The lemon yellow sweet clover (Melilotus officinalis) is a biennial or perennial plant from the legume family (Leguminosae). The plant originates from Southern Europe, but is now widespread everywhere. It is a slender, hairless plant that is abundant along roads and on arable land. The species also occurs in the dunes. The plant grows 30-150 cm high and blooms from July to October.
