Oats as a cover crop offer the advantage that they emerge quickly and cover the soil well. Oats protect the soil against drying out and retain dew well.
Oats emerge very quickly and work very well as a cover crop for herb-rich grassland mixtures. Due to the rapid emergence, it retains moisture well for seedlings.
Oats produce 3,000kg to 5,000kg of dry matter extra in the first year.
If you use Oats as a cover crop for herb-rich grassland mixtures, then the herb mixture takes over after the 2nd cut.

We have a very high livestock density on very dry sandy soil. That's why we have to irrigate. At 30°C, grass no longer grows despite irrigation, but Saladebuffet (Salad Buffet) just keeps going.
