Ribwort Plantain is a mineral-rich perennial herb with a high protein content, up to 23%. It establishes quickly and will be productive and persistent over a wide range of soils and climatic conditions, because it has a combined root system. It adapts well to drier areas, less fertile soil, low pH and heavy clay soils. The digestibility (80%) and energy level (12MJME) are high.
Ribwort Plantain fits very well in grazing mixtures, due to its excellent regrowth and a very high digestibility. Yield data show more than 6 tons of dry matter for well-managed plantain.
Adding ribwort plantain cultivar Tonic to the Saladebuffet increases overall production. TONIC has consistent dry matter production in all seasons. This extra production is generally due to more growth in the summer and faster recovery in the autumn. This extra feed fills an important gap during the summer dip in declining autumn production. Tonic can add value in a number of ways, both in terms of dry matter and quality.

We have a very high livestock density on very dry sandy soil. That's why we have to irrigate. At 30°C, grass no longer grows despite irrigation, but Saladebuffet (Salad Buffet) just keeps going.
