A lot of farms have their cattle indoors for the largest part of the year. Even though they "graze" in summer, they are still being fed extra while indoors. Because the milk production per cow needs to stay on point and can't effect the production of dairy.
This statement, this conclusion, leads to costs that could be saved by grazing in stand gehouden worden. En is ergens ook wel begrijpelijk als je kijkt wat bedrijven hebben aan investeringen en onkosten, in het traditionele high input systeem waarin ze zitten.
“If all you are trying to do is essentially the same thing as everyone else, then it’s unlikely you will be successful.” – Michael Porter
Making grazing sustainable, by using a lower cost price, can only be succesful when it's done completely,
That's what the cost price calculation in the Pure Graze mailing last week was for. The livestock farm has many challenges to deal with. A lot of farms can barely make ends meet and are being sustained by family members that hold an extra job.
That's why it's important to be succesful in what we do. I mean financially succesful. Because in this world, businesswise, a lot has to do with money.
“Once we rid ourselves of traditional thinking, we can get on with creating the future.” – James Bertrand
Beweiding staat in het centrum van PG NxT-STEP® Farming en leidt tot een beduidend lagere kostprijs (6 tot 15 cent kostprijs verlaging door PG NxT-STEP® ). In this low input businessmodel we take away all jobs that humans have come up with between cow and green fodder . This leads to more efficiency, lower work pressure, lower investment pressure and a footprit reduction of max. 92,5%.
Grazing is the foundation. It's important to realise this. There are a lot more things to be taken care of to fully convert to this businessmodel and yield all the benefits from it.
Grazing is important to learn, because a lot of farmers simply don't know how to do it anymore. It's more than just taking your cows outside. If grazing will make the difference in your businessmodel it needs to be treated respectfully.
